Getting this book published has not been an overnight success story. It took me five years from the start of writing to publication. Over the course of writing and publishing Voodoo Butterfly, I’ve learned some really important lessons about balancing my roles as a mom, wife, and writer. Almost six years ago, while visiting New Orleans with my family, I dreamed about a woman who had the power to change evil people good. In that dream, I also envisioned a plague of monarch butterflies descending upon Saint Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. Millions of the orange and black winged creatures swirled in the air and covered the entire cathedral. The dream woke me and would not let me fall back asleep, so in the middle of the night I jotted it down in my journal.
The Most Haunted Home in America: The Myrtles Plantation
Touted as one of the most haunted places in America, my mom and young sisters decided to see if The Myrtles Plantation really did live up to it’s name. The events which unfolded throughout the night terrified my mom and sister so much they ended up leaving the plantation in the early hours of the morning for the comfort of a modern hotel down the road.
